While we are always sorry to hear that a family is no longer riding their Buddy Bike for any reason, we understand that there may come a day when it is time to pass it along. Our Buddy Bike Trade-In Program, offers a convenient way for you to pass along your pre-owned Buddy Bike and receive cash in return.

Our eco-friendly Trade-In Program enables us to offer cash in exchange for pre-owned Buddy Bikes in good condition while keeping Buddy Bikes out of landfills and sending them to other families so they may continue to be enjoyed.

 

Although our trade-in offer might be lower than what you could potentially receive by selling the bike yourself, this is due to the costs associated with retrieving the Buddy Bike and the risk of shipping potentially causing damage, rendering it unusable for anything other than parts. Participating in our program will spare you the hassle of listing your item through various resources, negotiating with potential buyers and scammers, and ensure that your bike can continue bringing joy to many other families with children who have special needs. Moreover, the trade-in sales will contribute to supporting our small business so that we can continue building Buddy Bikes and spreading a message of inclusion with bicycles.

 

How the Program Works

1. Send photos of your Buddy Bike and your purchase receipt, if available, to shelley@buddybike.com. Clear and quality photos on nice backgrounds may help us move your bike more quickly. Take full bike photos as well as close ups of the moving parts. 

2. We will review your photos and bike history and if we have a need and your bike meets the eligibility criteria, we will send you a trade-in offer.

3. You have the option to accept or decline the offer.

4. If you accept the offer, we will request your current address in order to find a local bike shop near you that will receive, disassemble, package and prepare your bike for shipping.

5. We will also need your email or phone number so we may send funds to you via Zelle.

6. When we are ready to ship the bike, we will send an email to you with instructions and the bike shop information so you may deliver your bike and accessories.

7. After we confirm with the local bike shop that your bike has been received in good condition and including all parts as shown in the photos, you will receive an electronic funds transfer in the amount of your offer.

We usually do not accept our older steel frame Buddy Bikes so we usually suggest donating them to a local school, camp, or organization where they can be enjoyed by a lot of families! We may be able to help you find
