The Great Bike Giveaway 2016 - The Contest Winners

In February 2016, Buddy Bike participated in the 5th Annual Great Bike Giveaway sponsored by The Friendship Circle of Michigan, a non-profit organization that provides programs and support to the families of individuals with special needs. The Friendship Circle created the Great Bike Giveaway to give adaptive bikes to as many special children as possible and to offer them the same freedom, confidence and pride that everyone feels when the ride a bike for the first time.

For the fifth consecutive year, Buddy Bike joined other adaptive bicycle manufacturers such as AMBUCS, Flaghouse, Freedom Concepts, Mobo Cruiser, Rifton, Strider and Triaid to support the contest. Buddy Bike donated two of their alternative tandems but a total of SEVENTEEN Buddy Bikes, custom designed for the contest prize bikes, were given away due to fundraising in the online social media contest and more were given away through fundraising outside of the contest.

First of all, thank you for all you do to make this experience so seamless; even the bike shop owner said you guys were awesome to work with. I appreciate all the behind-the-scenes training and effort it takes to make such a huge event unfold with professionalism.

Secondly, attached is a picture of my Joshua on his first ride after school/work with Daddy. HE LOVES IT! We will be growing into this bike and we think it's AWESOME! Joshua has Down syndrome and sometimes it takes coaxing to get him to do things for the first time, but the bike was an exception. He was a trooper and sat still, held on, and enjoyed the ride. We are forever grateful for the Great Bike Giveaway. We would not have gambled on such an expensive bike ourselves. Winning a bike was truly a blessing!

With grateful hearts, thank you!
Joshua's Family

I apologize for the delay! It took a little while to coax Madison onto the bike but once she was on, she loved it!

We want to thank Buddy Bike and The Great Bike Giveaway for giving Madison this opportunity! Now that she is willing to get on the bike, she can ride with her family and friends and we can help her be safe by controlling her movement.

I think you will be able to tell how excited she is by the sound of her laughter in the video! Thanks again!!!!
