The Great Bike Giveaway
2014 - The Contest Winners
In March 2014, Buddy Bike
participated in the 3rd Annual
Great Bike Giveaway sponsored by The Friendship
Circle of Michigan, a non-profit organization that
provides programs and support to the families of
individuals with special needs. The Friendship Circle
created the Great Bike Giveaway to give adaptive bikes
to as many special children as possible and to offer
them the same freedom, confidence and pride that
everyone feels when the ride a bike for the first time.
For the third
consecutive year, Buddy Bike joined other
adaptive bicycle manufacturers such as AMBUCS,
Flaghouse, Freedom Concepts, Mobo Cruiser, Rifton,
Strider and Triaid to support the contest. Buddy Bike
donated two of their alternative tandems but a total of
THIRTEEN Buddy Bikes were given away due to fundraising in
the online social media contest.
When asked if Buddy Bike
would participate in the Great Bike Giveaway in 2015,
Shelley L. Patterson, Director of Marketing & Business
Development at Buddy Bike replied, “Absolutely! I was
shocked at the growth of the contest this year. Thanks
to the generous donors, we were able to give away
thirteen bikes to special families. The contest helps
our small business while allowing us to give bikes to
the people who need them. We will definitely continue to
support The Friendship Circle and The Great Bike
Giveaway."

"Newt and his family
thank all of the folks who donated funds toward Buddy
Bikes in the Great Bike Giveaway! Autism has made
solo-cycling not logical, but now thanks to the Buddy
Bike, he can enjoy the feeling of rolling down the road.
On our inaugural ride, he was so happy (while being
simultaneously tentative)! Thank you for giving him
this. It's more than a bike; it's increased
independence, pure joy, and family togetherness."

Connor Berens
"I just
wanted to send you a quick note and let you know that we
picked up Connors bike yesterday. The bike that he won
in The Great Bike Giveaway is great! The ride is so
smooth and the seat and peddles and handle bars are in
perfect position. We had a lot of fun riding around our
neighborhood. Connor isn't a big fan of peddling, he
hasn't had to do it much in the past, so we need to get
something to secure his feet to the peddles but so far
it's great. His sister and I took it out for a spin too.
Thank you so much!"
