2008 BUDDY BIKE MODELS PRESENTED AT INTERBIKE  PDF

Buddy Bike customers will have their choice between two Buddy Bike models in 2008. The two models: Buddy Bike Family and Buddy Bike Sport will be presented at the Interbike International Bicycle Expo. Interbike is a trade-only event that will be held on September 26-28 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is Buddy Bike’s third year of attendance as an exhibitor.

The 2008 Buddy Bike models both utilize quality parts and are based on the unique and innovative Buddy Bike design. In addition to the standard Buddy Bike features, Buddy Bike Family and Buddy Bike Sport will feature aluminum frames and a shortened overall bike length for a lighter ride and easier bike rack loading. Buddy Bike Family will accommodate easy going cyclists with a 7-speed Shimano Nexus internal hub (SHIMANO NEXUS Inner 7) for easy maintenance and pedal-free shifting, lower top tubes and a lower rear rider seat that will allow for easier mounting. Cycling enthusiasts who want to go farther and faster will enjoy Buddy Bike Sport; Buddy Bike Sport utilizes a 24-speed Shimano hub with 8 internal and 3 external gears (SHIMANO NEXAVE C530 24 speed) that is new to the United States. With a wider range of gears for better climbing, a suspension fork and thinner, slicker tires, Buddy Bike Sport will provide a smoother ride with less rolling resistance.

The Buddy Bike is a revolutionary inline tandem bicycle that places the stoker in the front seat. The lower front seat allows both riders to safely enjoy the view while the captain steers from the back. With the Buddy Bike, the captain no longer has to twist around to check on a child rider, risking an accident. Buddy Bike utilizes an exclusive and innovative design with an extra set of handles on the handlebars for the stoker and pedals that work on the same drive chain so the riders work together. With a weight capacity of 380 pounds, the Buddy Bike is the ultimate family bike, one that can be enjoyed by riders of all ages.

The Buddy Bike is a unique and attention-grabbing bicycle making it ideal for bike shops and cycling tours that offer bicycle rentals. The Buddy Bike is currently being used successfully as a rental bike at Vail Bike Tech in Vail, Colorado and at Bike Chicago locations including one on Chicago’s Navy Pier. “Our customers love it”, says Bike Chicago’s General Manager, Chris Dunstatter, “I’ve had a lot of repeat customers who come back here specifically to use the bike because they can’t find it anywhere else in the city of Chicago.”

The Buddy Bike is especially beneficial for special needs riders who otherwise would not be able to experience the thrill of riding a bicycle. Maureen Carter, the parent of a child with autism, says, “I love that the Buddy Bike is giving us these opportunities to be together, work together, play together, talk together…The Buddy Bike is doing so much more for us than just getting us around town on a bike.” The Buddy Bike is being utilized in several schools and organizations including: The Victory School for Children with Autism in North Miami Beach, FL; Junior Blind of America in Los Angeles, CA; Harbor Haven Day Camp in West Orange, NJ and Alexandria City Public Schools in Alexandria, VA.
